City upgrades drainage at flood-prone intersection

July 18, 2025 - The City of St. Petersburg is installing a larger stormwater pipe with a "double-sized" inlet to help reduce flooding at the intersection of Dr. MLK Jr. Street and 52nd Avenue North. Roadway improvements also include repaving the bus lane and repairing drains. The project coincides with improvements to neighboring Franklin Heights Park and is part of the city's St. Pete Agile Resilience Plan (SPAR).
