Core values/mission statement

The mission of H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute is to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. Our vision is to transform cancer care through service, science and partnership.

Company Leadership

H. Lee Moffitt

Founder

H. Lee Moffitt recognized a need for a comprehensive cancer center in the state of Florida. In the late '70s, he suggested this idea to Dr. Hollis Boren and the then dean of the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and by the end of their lunch, both Dr. Boren and the dean agreed with Moffitt. Through community support and state funding, the center was able to open just a few years later, in 1983.

Alan List, MD

President & Chief Executive Officer

Dr. List is internationally recognized for his many contributions in the development of novel, more effective treatment strategies for myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). His pioneering work led to the development of lenalidomide (Revlimid®) from the laboratory to clinical trials, which went on to receive fast-track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and approval for the treatment of patients with MDS and multiple myeloma. This work transformed the natural history of MDS from a premalignant condition that progressed to malignancy requiring aggressive treatment to a condition managed in the outpatient setting with oral agents.

Executive Vice President, General Council

Mr. de la Parte is Executive Vice President and in-house General Counsel at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. He joined Moffitt Cancer Center to establish its in-house General Counsel office in March 2007 after leaving de la Parte & Gilbert, P.A. as its managing partner. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Florida State University in 1983 and his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 1985. While in private practice, Mr. de la Parte concentrated his practice in the general representation of clients in the health care industry and the representation of governmental and quasi-governmental agencies. He became Moffitt Cancer Center’s outside General Counsel in 1990.

John A. (Jack) Kolosky

Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer; President, Hospital Corporation

Mr. Kolosky is responsible for ensuring that high quality care is provided to its many patients and that the Cancer Center is compliant with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, continually monitoring Moffitt's service and delivery systems. Mr. Kolosky also has the role of corporate Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, where he oversees Patient Care Services as well as corporate functions as Information Technology, Internal Audit and Facilities and Support Services.
