Arts Alive!: Jim Sorensen, Tampa Repertory Theatre
The Tampa Repertory Theatre’s Jim Sorensen is our guest for the final Arts Alive! podcast of 2025.
Jim is directing the Tampa Rep production of A Christmas Carol – A Live Radio Play through Tuesday (Dec. 23) at the Shimberg Playhouse, in the Straz Center for the Performing Arts complex (find all showtimes and tickets at this link).
He wrote the adaption of the classic Dickens story, which includes songs, narration, sound effects and a cast of four actors “playing” a multitude of characters (Michael Gregory is Dickens’ miserable old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge.)
Sorensen, a longtime presence on the Tampa Bay theater scene, has acted in both Tampa and St. Petersburg most recently in the Off-Central comedy Bakersfield Mist (his co-star from that show, Alix Faulhaber, is in the cast of A Christmas Carol – A Live Radio Play).
We also talk about St. Pete’s Radio Theatre Project, for which he frequently provides voices – Sorensen will be there for the RTP Christmas edition, Monday (Dec. 22) at 7 p.m. at The Studio@620.
