Arts Alive! podcast: Alexander Jones, projectALCHEMY
Our Arts Alive! guest today is choreographer Alexander Jones, founder and artistic director of the bay area’s premiere contemporary dance company, projectALCHEMY.
The Bartow native was already one of the most creative performers in the area when he began the nonprofit in 2018.

Now it seems projectALCHEMY is everywhere. Young choreographers and dancers from the company’s mentorship program, Momentum, performed original works earlier this week at the Dali Museum, interpreting the gargantuan paintings in Hough Hall created by SHINE muralists.
The Moving Surreal program will be performed again, with Jones himself as “docent,” Tuesday (Oct. 21) at 7 p.m. Find info and tickets here.
“Alchemy,” loosely translated, means “transformation,” and that’s what makes Alexander Jones tick – his restless creative nature transforms, and is transformed by, his many collaborations with other artistic disciplines. Most recently American Stage, The Florida Orchestra and Jobsite Theater.
