Arts Alive! podcast: Comedian Cat Lim
She’s a freelance graphic artist and a rock ‘n’ roll bass player. And Cat Lim happens to be a very funny person, a force of comedic nature whose skill set includes standup, improv and sketch comedy.
It’s because of that edgy, off-the-wall sense of humor that Catherine Anne Lim is today’s guest on Arts Alive!
The St. Petersburg resident is also known for her fiercely funny one-woman shows. Cat Lim: An American Darling brought down house after house at the Tampa and Orlando Fringe Festivals, and she’s got a new one bowing Saturday at the Green Light Cinema Lounge.
The Pinky DeBartlo Show features the return of one of Lim’s favorite recurring characters, the sarcastic and somewhat jaded Hollywood agent Pinky DeBartlo. Saturday’s performance will take the form of a talk show; St. Pete-based actress Eugenie Bondurant is one of the scheduled “guests.”
In today’s interview, Lim touches on her Filipino-American heritage, her Catholic upbringing, her discovery of improv, which seemed tailor-made for her outgoing personality, and the other symbiotic side roads that led her to comedy.
