Owen Robertson is today’s guest on the Arts Alive! podcast. The founder and executive producer of LAB Theater Project, a 50-seat black box theater in a converted Ybor City storefront, Robertson discusses, among other topics, the newly-opened LAB show, the comedy The Rooster’s Tale.

Like everything that LAB presents, it’s an original work – this one by California playwright Paula Fell – and as such has never been produced before.

“I think one of the things we do really, really well at LAB is that we surprise our playwrights at how professional we are, and how much work we put into their scripts. In bringing their vision to life.

“Because I’m a playwright myself, and because our core value is to bring the playwright’s vision to life, we spend a lot of time on the scripts and developing the work with the playwright. Giving them time to make sure it’s exactly what they want before we start putting it up on its feet.”
