Partnering with the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Grow Smarter initiative, the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance will present an online grant-writing seminar Tuesday, April 28.

Developed with support from the Foundation for a Healthy St Petersburg, Development 101: Grant Writing is free. Pre-registration is required here.

“We had planned to offer the session at St. Petersburg College’s Midtown Campus,” Arts Alliance Executive Director John Collins said in a statement announcing the event. “However, perhaps we can reach even more people with a Zoom webinar.” The goal, Collins said, is “to increase awareness and access to encourage equitable economic growth for all our arts.”

Added Tashika Griffith, Grow Smarter Chair: “The St. Petersburg Arts community is diverse in talent, thought and vision. Being able to clearly articulate this vision offers possibilities for potential grant funding support. I am excited that through Grow Smarter’s partnership with the Arts Alliance, this online session will broaden its reach to ensure a wide array of artists can access this opportunity.”

The step-by-step seminar, taught by veteran nonprofit manager Barbara Mazer Gross (currently Chief Development Officer for the Florida Orchestra), is specifically designed for nonprofit arts organizations.

However, the Arts Alliance is urging “anyone who will write any grant application” to participate, “especially as new grant opportunities arise due to the pandemic.”
