ArtWalk trolley service to resume in July

Trolley service for the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance’s monthly Second Saturday ArtWalk will resume in July.

The 25-year-old self-guided tour of artist studios and galleries has been on a walk-or-drive schedule since 2020, the first year of the pandemic. More recently, a driver shortage has kept the trolley – which is free to ride – off the streets.

“We are so beyond excited, after so long, to bring this means of transportation back to our city of the arts,” Arts Alliance CEO Terry Marks said in a prepared statement. “Our gratitude goes out to all our artists, arts venues and organizations, galleries and districts for keeping our arts thriving during this time.”

Initially, the organization will provide a single trolley to ferry arts aficionados between the more than 40 stops on the ArtWalk. Ideally, Marks said, she hopes to add additional vehicles, as well as a tour of the city’s downtown murals.

The Second Saturday ArtWalk covers the Central Arts District, Edge Business District, Grand Central District, Warehouse Arts District, Uptown Arts District and downtown Waterfront District.

Trolley service will resume Saturday, July 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. The Arts Alliance publishes a map and guide (here) about a week before each event.
