August in the arts: Eight great concerts … and more

Some big names are coming our way in August, headed for concert stages on both sides of the bay. Many are outdoors – summertime is the season, after all, for those big under-the-stars shows – but an equal number will take place in air-conditioned comfort.
It’s al all-genre concert cornucopia.
Something new: Starting this month, we’ll include ticket-buying links for all venues at the end of this story.
And as always, things will be added (and, no doubt, taken away) as the month progresses. Watch the Catalyst for updates.

Actor Jared Leto’s “other” creative endeavor, the eccentric and theatrical rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, has a Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheatre date Aug. 24.
