‘Boots on the Ground’ singer’s St. Pete show rescheduled

This story has been modified from its original form, to reflect the rescheduled concert date.
What do you get when you cross Southern Soul music with country music line dancing?
Unless you pay zero attention to social media, TikTok and YouTube influencers, you know the answer is “Boots on the Ground (Where Them Fans At?)” by South Carolina R&B singer/rapper 803Fresh. The sinewy, beat-heavy song, and its attendant “soul line dancing craze” is a viral sensation. Celebrities, journalists, trendsetters and even politicians have appeared in online videos busting 803 Fresh’s moves.
“Boots on the Ground” went to No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart in April, and stayed there for six weeks.
803Fresh, whose given name is Douglas Furtick, will perform in concert June 19 at the Floridian Social. The 3 p.m. show is presented in part by the Pinellas County Urban League, which calls it an Equal Opportunity Fundraising Concert.
Originally scheduled for June 5, the show was moved to allow 803Fresh to perform at Thursday’s NBA finals.
The organization is going all out with this event; tonight brings free line dancing lessons at both the Enoch Davis Center and Artz 4 Life Academy.
The “fans” 803Fresh mentions are hand fans that “clack” open and shut; as seen in the video for “Boots on the Ground,” the collapsible fans are an integral part of the soul line dancing experience (at least in this particular case).
Branded “Boots on the Ground” clack fans (“dance floor tested, sass approved”) will be available for purchase at the June 19 event, from the Pinellas County Urban League.
The Floridian Social is 21+. All tickets, including VIP packages, cam be purchased at this link.
