Catalyst finance editor Margie Manning honored by TBABJ

The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists honored St. Pete Catalyst finance editor Margie Manning Thursday evening at the TBABJ 2018 Griot Drum Awards in Tampa. 

The annual awards ceremony and scholarship event honors Tampa Bay area journalists from various news outlets and backgrounds for excellence in coverage of people of color. Manning was honored with a first place prize for “Best Print Business Story” for her coverage of the skewed composition of local boards in an article called, “‘Pale, stale and male’ dominates in Tampa Bay boardrooms.” 

The 2017 article outlines the lack of gender and racial diversity in talent pool reaching the top positions of local companies, despite several studies showing that a more diverse board is better for business.
