Tuesday on The Catalyst Sessions, our guest was Eckerd College professor of theater Jessica Thonen, who co-wrote her students’ first production of the semester, the ambitious, all-virtual Into the Wind.

Presented Sept. 24-27, Into the Wind is directed by Thonen’s co-writer, New York choreographer Jenn Rapp.

“We spent the summer writing with the goal of using the Zoom platform as a way to explore creative opportunities,” Thonen said. “Not as a way to try to force what we used to do into the boxes.”

Dealing with issues of separation and distance, Into the Wind is both metaphorical and experimental. The philosophy, Thonen explained, was to “create something that focuses on the work, rather than trying to re-create something that someone else is working through.”

Info and tickets are available here.

Wednesday on The Catalyst Sessions: Artist and teacher Dr. Brandy Stark talks about this weekend’s event with her Spirits of St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg Paranormal Investigation group.

Streaming weekdays at 7 p.m. on the Catalyst Facebook page. All episodes are archived on our YouTube channel.
