Clearwater marketing tech company ends year with nearly $84M in earnings

The Clearwater marketing tech firm PostcardMania has reached new milestones – exceeding the company’s projections.  

PostcardMania sells direct mail campaigns to thousands of small businesses, using automation technology that programs mail ahead of time, allowing the system to deliver a single mail piece to anyone when triggered.

Founded in 1998, PostcardMania began as a tiny startup in a 600-square-foot cottage in Clearwater. It currently operates out of a 69,800 square-foot campus on Sunnydale Boulevard.

The marketing tech firm grew from earning $64.2 million in 2020 to $83.9 million in 2021, which greatly exceeded its projected earnings of $75 million to $80 million. 

The fastest-growing segment at PostcardMania was PCM Integrations, a newly-launched division focused on direct mail automation, which shot up by 154%, according to the company. 

“Putting this kind of marketing technology into the hands of everyday small business owners with smaller budgets has been our mission since 2013, when we first began our pivot from a direct-mail-only marketing company to a technology-driven marketing company covering everything from direct mail to digital advertising,” PostcardMania founder and CEO Joy Gendusa said in a statement.

“We’re in a position now where we can help small business owners with every facet of their marketing -online, offline, integrating both, automating it all to make it easier – at an affordable rate. And a more competitive and thriving small business sector is good for all of us.”

Although the company suffered during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Gendusa did not cut her marketing budget nor lay off any employees. PostcardMania soon rebounded and recently added over 40 new jobs to its roster, bringing its staff count to a new high of 328.  

Automated direct mail offers a greatly reduced cost of entry compared to traditional direct mail and a more personalized consumer experience. 

As the cost structure and return on investment grew,  PostcardMania has also recently hit the 100,000 mark on the number of clients it serves. 

The company has been featured on the Inc. 500 and 5,000 lists, as well as numerous publications.
