St. Pete is next to get the DOGE treatment

State appointees will soon scrutinize the City of St. Petersburg’s budget and nearly every other aspect of local government.

The Florida Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has selected the city for further review and on-site inspections. A letter obtained by the Catalyst notes that the agency will access “physical premises, data systems and responsive personnel” Aug. 13 and 14.

What does DOGE expect from St. Pete? 

The City of St. Petersburg's support for diversity, equity, inclusion and environmental sustainability is now under state scrutiny. 

A nine-page letter from the Florida Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to the city has about 90 specific requests. Some of the 15 related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) extend to “contractors, grant recipients or members of the public.”
