Mayor: St. Pete could purchase embattled Job Corps site

Mayor Ken Welch recently told city council members that his administration has considered purchasing the Pinellas County Job Corps Center in St. Petersburg to prevent students from becoming homeless. 

The city already has some competition. Councilmember Corey Givens Jr. subsequently told the Catalyst that three developers have already inquired about the 16.3-acre site at 500 22nd St. S.

Joe’s Creek Industrial Park master plan outlined 

A master plan to update Joe’s Creek Industrial Park was presented to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners July 17. 

The 160.7 acre park, adjacent to U.S. 19, is in the Lealman Community Redevelopment Area.
