St. Petersburg hosts 74 international agents

The U.S. Department of State has convened global judicial, law enforcement and security officials to address the growing threat of transnational crime and synthetic drugs like fentanyl.

Tampa Bay was the first stop on a nationwide tour following an initial three-week program in Washington, D.C. The University of South Florida St. Petersburg hosted 74 international government visitors and 19 interpreters from 66 countries today as part of the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

Literary prize to be awarded Friday at Side Door

St. Petersburg poet Denzel Johnson-Green is the recipient of the 2023 Roy Peter Clark Literary Award, to be presented during the Sunlit After Dark event Friday, May 12 at 6 p.m., at the Palladium Theater Side Door Café.

A Poynter Institute writing coach, author and former journalist, Clark cites Johnson-Green - editor of the seasonal local poetry and art magazine Neptune – for his innumerable “contributions to the cultural life” of the city.
