Affordable housing project in Pasadena Bear Creek area wins approval

The St. Petersburg City Council unanimously approved a plan clearing the way for an affordable housing development in the Pasadena Bear Creek area.

City Council approval came after a nearly five-hour hearing Thursday night. Dozens of neighborhood residents spoke against the development, most of them saying it was not compatible with the character of the area and would damage property values.

Here are the businesses that got funding from the first round of Pinellas CARES

Pinellas County has issued $16.105 million in grants to small businesses under the initial Pinellas CARES Small Business Grants program.

As of  Aug. 13, 5,223 completed applications were received for the program and 3,221 checks for $5,000 each had been issued, according to an update from Pinellas County.

Nate Najar and Daniela Soledade began their Friday-evening virtual concert series “Love and Bossa Nova” in late March. To date, the dynamic jazz duo has performed – for the camera – 22 times, from their downtown balcony or (when it was raining) living room. There have been exceptions, of course.
