The word is out: St. Petersburg’s SHINE Mural Festival is now a magnet for muralists. Out of the 18 or so plein air painters on the ticket for the festival’s eighth edition, Oct. 12-22, five are high-profile international artists whose work is known in the art capitals of the world.
“James Ballough, honestly, we have been wanting and trying to get here since year one, trying to align our schedule with his,” SHINE director Jenee Priebe says. “ And he’s coming with his podcast, Vantage Point, where he’s interviewed some of the biggest, best street artists for years. He’s going to do some interviews while he’s here for the festival, which is really exciting for us.”
