With St. Petersburg's franchise agreement with Duke Energy set to expire this week and no negotiations underway, Downtown Partnership CEO Jason Mathis says the city is creating unnecessary uncertainty while it studies whether to municipalize its own electric utility, despite Clearwater's own feasibility study and recent decision to extend a 30-year agreement with Duke.

Council to explore new resiliency initiatives

St. Petersburg City Council Vice-Chair Richie Floyd believes there is an opportunity to build on past and current resiliency efforts.

At its July 23 meeting, the Council approved two new business items to further explore creating a comprehensive citywide resiliency plan and a citizen-led Resiliency Advisory Board. Floyd submitted the requests.
