St. Pete-Clearwater airport contract draws scrutiny

A roughly $145 million overhaul of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport moved forward Thursday on a 4-3 vote, even as questions surfaced over whether Pinellas County used an outdated scoring system to select one of the firms working on the project.

Commissioners approved a $1.74 million contract with American Infrastructure Development to represent the county during preconstruction of the airport’s passenger terminal improvements.

Poliverse: Jacques says Seminole crossed line on Amendment 3

State Rep. Berny Jacques, a vocal supporter of Amendment 3, is again challenging a Pinellas County city over how it is presenting the measure to residents.

This time, Jacques is targeting Seminole, accusing the city of unlawfully campaigning against the amendment through information and outside links posted on its website. In a letter sent Friday to Mayor Leslie Waters, Jacques demanded the material be removed and threatened to file a complaint with the Florida Elections Commission if the city does not act.
