More than 1,000 offer Trop site suggestions

Hundreds of residents traveled to various locations, voicing their recommendations at the multiple community input sessions to determine the fate of the 86-acre Tropicana Field site, where the Gas Plant neighborhood once flourished. 

Over the multiple public meetings packed into a one-month timeframe, the city has garnered nearly 1,000 engagements from the attendees participating in person, and those submitting responses online.

Vintage St. Pete: Hugh Boyd and HMS Bounty in Tahiti

A man with an insatiable lust for adventure, Hugh Boyd spent much of his life as captain of HMS Bounty, the three-masted wooden sailing ship built for a Hollywood movie and moored in St. Petersburg, as a tourist attraction, for more than 20 years.

Every time Bounty, a working vessel that could travel under sail or via diesel engines, was called upon to travel somewhere on the globe, Hugh Boyd was ship’s master.
