Pinellas spends millions selling its beaches overseas

Pinellas County has authorized nearly $4 million in contracts with firms that promote St. Pete-Clearwater in Europe, part of a years-long effort to bring more international travelers to the area.

County commissioners this week added another $575,000 to keep that work going through September 2027. The contracts cover Central Europe and the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scandinavia.

Historic designation eyed for Williams Park Bandshell

At its Thursday meeting, the St. Petersburg City Council unanimously voted to explore a City-initiated historic designation for the Williams Park Bandshell. The structure, which replaced a previous bandstand, was built in 1954.

Council member Gina Driscoll submitted the request. She has been a key supporter of the Williams Park Improvement Project, which is a collaboration between the City of St. Petersburg and the Williams Park Partnership. One of the core aspects of the effort is preserving and future-proofing the bandshell.
