Dali Museum to debut a new 360-degree exhibit
The Dali Museum’s new climate-controlled geodesic dome will receive its first tenant this summer with Dali Alive 360°, an immersive journey into the the work – and the mind – of Surrealist master Salvador Dali.
A precise opening date is still to be announced.
The exhibit, consisting of projection-mapped digital images and animations displayed from the floor to the top of the structure, was co-produced by Dali curators and the Australian production company Grande Experiences, creator of the Van Gogh Alive exhibit which broke museum attendance records in 2021.
The “Dali Dome,” located in the museum’s “Avant garden,” stands 39 feet tall and 60 feet in diameter. It is designed to withstand pressures from hurricane winds and storm surges.
Construction of the dome is the first step in the facility’s planned expansion.
Imagery for Dali Alive 360° was created specifically for the 360-degree environment by Omnispace360, the creator of immersive environments for six Super Bowls. Omnispace360 also engineered the Dome and surround projections.
