St. Pete Comic Con is back for the second time on January 7-8, 2023 at the Coliseum. The two-day, multi-genre event will feature comics, anime, sci-fi, and cosplay. Guests include big-name voice actors, big-time comic artists, and four of Florida’s top cosplayers. In addition, there will be more than 50 hours of programming that ranges from contests to K-pop dance to panel discussions.
“Geeks and nerds will rejoice at the many and varied offerings at St. Pete Comic Con 2023,” said organizer Dewey Caruthers, who also hosts the successful Anime St. Pete convention at the Coliseum. “We’re excited for St. Pete Comic Con 2023, considering so many people welcomed it last year,” he said.
Voice actors at St. Pete Comic Con 2023 portray major characters in a wide variety of popular shows, games, and animated series such as Genshin Impact, Cookie Run Kingdom, Hunter x Hunter, To Your Eternity, Boruto, and The Amazing World of Gumball. Voice actors appearing at St. Pete Comic Con are Jacob Hopkins, Valeria Rodriguez, and Chris Hackney.
Comic creators at the Comic Con will include artists, authors, and animators who have worked on a wide range of major titles such as Young Justice, Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Doctor Who, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Superboy, along with Disney’s Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, and Tarzan. Comic creators at the Comic Con will include Christopher Jones, Mike Grell, and Peter Raymundo.
To round out the talent on display, the guest cosplayers are four of Florida’s best. These award winners are appearing both days and will be hosting panels, judging contests, and meeting fans at their booths. Guest cosplayers include Dark Lady Cosplay, Amazon Cosplayer, Star Cos22, and Avera Cosplay.
“We’re bringing in top talent from comics, anime, and cosplay to St. Petersburg, one of the best cities in the universe to have a comic convention,” Caruthers said.
The programming also includes two cosplay contests, a TikTok Film Festival, a lip sync competition, and many panel discussions. Also, there is free video gaming in the balcony. “Attendees will not get bored, that’s for sure,” Caruthers said.
