Join local historian Josette Green with St. Petersburg Black History Tours to learn
about the city’s impactful Black history while biking around the city and into the past. The history comes to life when standing on the land where history was made. Many drive by these locations everyday and have no idea of what once happened. Green’s meticulous research, aided by historic photos and maps, helps tell the story of the impactful experience of Black residents in St. Pete from the city’s very beginning.
ABC News calls the Black History Bike Tour “eye-opening.” Others say it’s the most enlightening event of their life.
The ride is a 5 mile loop on flat land. The history provides context to the segregation and systemic racism that exists in the city today. The 4 hour immersive experience ends with a talk by Mr. Brayboy (Mr. B) and his lived experience in St. Pete. His talk is a tour highlight.
