You’re invited to an evening of music and poetry marking the anniversary of Jack Kerouac’s passing in 1969 (Beat Generation Pioneer and author of On the Road) hosted by the Friends of Jack Kerouac (or is that the The Fiends of Jack Scare-o-whack? Hmmm…) The night will focus on the Beat Generation’s exploration of spirituality by tapping into the ethereal with host Donnie Ibn Malik Ali-McClendon, Live Painting and Interactive Poetry Collage by James E Hartzell, Poetry Open Mic, Raffle Prize Drawings and a Silent Auction.
Local Jazz quartet, the Johnny Whyte Xperince will start the night off with an hour of Jazz infused with Afro-Cuban rhythms. The band will also provide musical accompaniment for the Poetry Open Mic portion of the night.
Attendees are encouraged to read works from Beat Generation writers or other poets who have passed on. A table with writing prompts will be available as well.
Don’t miss this fundraising event and support The Friends of Jack Kerouac!
