The Dalí Museum invites you to experience the dreams of talented teen designers as they walk the runway in their very own fashion designs. Come to Gibbs High School to view their surreal works of wearable art created in this year’s Fashion Design at The Dalí program.
This program invites Tampa Bay area high school students to learn the fundamentals of design, construction and runway presentation to create tangible connections between Dalí’s art and fashion. Using selected works from The Dalí Museum as their inspiration, students explored advanced sewing techniques and non-traditional materials to bring their ideas from rendering to reality.
This year’s theme, The Shape of Dreams, challenged students to create concepts that incorporate the visual cues that evoke the feeling or setting of a dream. The subconscious expression seen so often in Dalí’s work taught them to draw from their own experiences, memories and imaginative elements, to show us the shape of their dreams.
Designs will be showcased and judged at this final runway event at PCCA-Gibbs High School on December 17, 2022. Selected designs will win prizes in several categories and be honored in a display at Neiman Marcus located in Tampa’s International Plaza in January. Finally, a runway event at Neiman Marcus will be held on February 9, 2023 showcasing students’ designs alongside the season’s hottest looks.
