In this 80-minute one-man tour-de-force, Michael Horn plays John Lerro, the Tampa Bay harbor pilot who was at the helm of the freighter Summit Venture when it crashed into the Sunshine Skyway Bridge during a freak storm in 1980. Thirty-five people lost their lives. Based on Bill DeYoung's book Skyway: The True Story of Tampa Bay's Signature Bridge and the Man Who Brought it Down, the play finds Lerro, who was exonerated in court but lived the rest of his life in ill health and consumed by guilt, discussing the events before, during and after the day he "checked into hell." At 8 p.m. Feb. 25 & 26, at 3 p.m. Feb. 27

Bill DeYoung’s Book concludes this was an unforeseeable act of nature. The NTSB report is available online https://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/Pages/DCA80AM050.aspx
Knowing the full story makes it even more interesting.

Hi Hugh. The NTSB and Coast Guard reports were both major sources for the book. And are accurately reported.
