Stoked: Morean Center for Clay Members Show
Opening Reception: August 10, from 5-9pm
August 10 – 31
Stoked is the latest incarnation of the Morean Center for Clay’s annual members show. This exhibition showcases the output of the many artists working out of our studio. As the largest clay center in the Southeastern United States, we take pride in the diverse collection of work that is made here. Since 2001, our historic train station has ignited the creativity of countless artists. Despite the unique style and interest of every individual that congregates here, the united passion for clay, the free flow of ideas, and the potential of this special place leaves an impact on everyone all the same.
Ceramics is an artform like no other. Above all else is the necessity of a community that is willing to foster camaraderie and growth. Artists here share not just a workspace, but a desire to honor the tradition of clay, to push the boundaries of the medium, and to pass on knowledge to the next generation. They share not just studios and kilns but also ideas, techniques, and support. This show is a testament to their individual ambitions as well as the possibilities of a motivated community.
Stoked celebrates the results of hard, heart-felt work. It is about projects that are ongoing; It is about maintaining a warm and welcoming place for so many. While we may all be on our own personal journeys, the Morean Center for Clay is an important stop on the way. We’ll meet you at the train station.
