St. Petersburg, FL — The Literacy Council of St. Petersburg (LCSP) will host its annual Spelling Bee for Grown-Ups fundraiser on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Coastal Creative in downtown St. Petersburg. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the spelling competition begins at 7:30 p.m.
Now in its 58th year of service to the community, LCSP provides free, one-on-one tutoring to adults working to improve their literacy skills, from beginning reading to preparing for the GED. The Spelling Bee for Grown-Ups supports this mission while bringing the community together for an evening of spirited competition, costumes, and camaraderie.
Approximately 10 teams of two to four participants will compete in a lively, fast-paced spelling showdown hosted by an emcee and judged by official volunteers. While spelling skills are welcome, enthusiasm is key, and creative team names and costumes are encouraged. (A Best Costume team prize will also be awarded.)
Attendees can expect an engaging night featuring local bites, drinks with donation, and plenty of audience participation as teams spell their way to victory.
