Join Suncoast Sierra Club and other ocean advocates in celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8th from 6 to 9 pm at Pinellas Ale Works when we discuss water issues of concern in the Tampa Bay region and ways to find solutions. The event will be available via livestream at Facebook.com/SuncoastSierra.
Panel program begins at 7 pm with speakers Maya Burke, Assistant Director of the Tampa Bay Estuary Program; Kate Hubbard, Research Scientist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission; and Megan Moss, Director of Pinellas County Utilities, providing updates and answers to questions on Piney Pointe, Harmful Algal Blooms, and Private Laterals (sewage lines from home to street).
Ocean advocates including Suncoast Surfrider, Suncoast Rise Above Plastics, Sea Turtle Trackers, Blue Green Connections, Byrne Ocean Conservation, the Sans Market and more will host exhibits and provide lightning presentations on current initiatives and opportunities to get involved. A raffle will be held to support a scholarship for a summer program providing ocean research experience and scuba certification for young women.
Come grab a beer and network with us on World Oceans Day! There is no admission and RSVP not necessary. Watch Suncoast Sierra Facebook page for updates.
