Halloween on Central and other free family events
Pinellas County neighborhoods from gulf to bay are providing scary-but-safe Halloween events and activities for local littles this weekend. For the fifth consecutive year, the biggest goody bag of them all will be Halloween on Central, a joint venture between St. Petersburg’s Grand Central and EDGE districts.
Here’s the deal: A total of 22 blocks of Central Avenue, from Dr. MLK Jr. (9th) Street to 31st Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic Sunday (Oct. 26) from noon until 5 p.m. For ease of access SunRunner, the express bus service that loops continuously on 1st Avenues South and North, will be free all day.
Those closed-off blocks will contain St. Pete’s largest street carnival, a veritable who’s what of costumed characters, live entertainment and DJs, a “Voodoo Vendor Village,” games and contests (even a costume contest for dogs), dancing – and many, many food trucks.
Area businesses will be transformed into trick-or-treat stops.

Fall-O-Ween: 5-10 p.m. Friday at Coachman Park, 300 Cleveland St., Clearwater. A costume contest, Jeep display, vendors, live music, trick or treating, food trucks and more.
Belleair’s Halloween Bash: 6-8 p.m. Friday at Dimmitt Community Center Athletic Fields, 918 Osceola Road, Belleair. Bounce houses, trick-or-treat stops, costume contests, a haunted house and more.
Pumpkin Fest: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo. A pumpkin patch and carving, a scarecrow contest, kids activities and more.
Trick or Treat Spooktacular: 5-8 p.m. Friday at Pioneer Park, 420 Main St. Carnival-style games, hands-on Halloween crafts, and a showing of the movie Wicked.
Tarpon Springs Trick or Treat: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Wear your Halloween costumes for treats from participating downtown district businesses
Dunedin Goes Carting Halloween Golf Cart Parade: 7 p.m. Sunday, starting at VFW Post 2550, 360 Douglas Ave, Dunedin. Costume contest, trick-or-treating in downtown, live music and more.
