Hustle (job)
Founder & CEO of Direct Mail 2.0, a direct mail technology provider.
What do you do?
We basically provide technology that enhances, reports, and tracks good old fashioned direct mail.
Why do you do it?
Direct mail has always worked, it’s been one of the most effective advertising mediums since the beginning of time. It needed to come into the 21st century, just like many industries that were sort of disrupted by new technology. Direct mail was ripe for disruption.
What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)
I got started when the other co-founder said, “Hey, why don’t you come and help spin off this product into its own company.” I had 25 years of running and growing business experience. I had always been in the internet, technology and marketing areas, so I jumped on board and we took this company from almost nothing to where it is today.
What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?
When people hear direct mail provider, they immediately think we print and mail stuff. We actually don’t. We just provide the technology to improve and track direct mail.
What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?
The biggest challenge is the constant roadblocks or unknowns that come up and mustering the intelligence and ingenuity to get around those and out-create them.
What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?
Intuition. Keep persisting, push through, find solutions no matter what the obstacle is and you’ll achieve success eventually.
What's next?
The next thing for me is to grow this company to 8 or 9 figures, and move on to my next game, whatever that is. I love technology, I love growing businesses, I love creating new technology to improve old processes. It’s just fun.
