Years in Tampa Bay

After being born in Ohio and spending the first several years of my life there, I moved with my family to Tampa. I’ve now lived here for 15 years, minus the year and a month that I lived in NYC.

Hustle (job)

Independent Marketing Consultant & Account Director for Brick Media Group.

What do you do?

I quit my 9-5 job in September of 2019, and pursued my dreams of running my own company on October 1st. Currently I manage my own clients, offering marketing and social media strategy consultancy. I provide content creation services, working with my boyfriend on photography and videography projects.

Most of my time is taken up with work that I do with Brick Media Group. I use my experience in account management to maintain communication with our clients and assist the team with strategy.

Why do you do it?

I have a passion for helping people reach their goals. I enjoy assessing a company’s objectives, competition, and market and offering suggestions and tactics for scaling their business. I love to use my experience in marketing, public relations, and social media to help businesses reach their target audience and make money.

What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)

I originally wanted to work with animals, but I wasn’t excited about the amount of work that would be involved in helping me reach that goal. I was always creative and I wanted to use my organizational skills and business mindset to apply that creativity. After doing some research, I landed on a public relations degree. During and after college, I worked in marketing and social media in the restaurant and tech industries. Over time, I fell in love with strategy and using social media platforms to achieve business success. After working in NYC at an agency, I became fascinated with the idea of starting my own business and collaborating with partners. So here I am!

What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?

Being that social media is involved in my career, there can be a lot of misconceptions about what I do any why it even matters for businesses.

What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?

Convincing business owners why marketing is important.

What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?

It’s simple, but it’s helped me tremendously: “Just Go For It.”

I wouldn’t have left my corporate career or made the move to NYC, if I didn’t just take risks and do what was best for me personally and professionally. Decisions won’t be easy, but always pursue what you feel called to.
