The Hustle

Name: Chad Walker (ClienTell)

What if an app turned the tables on typical customer rating platforms like Yelp or Google? What if instead of one-sided business ratings, the customer was rated too? ClienTell seeks to do just that for contractors. ClienTell is building a national community of contractors to help them save time and anxiety by helping them distinguish between good and bad clients. ClienTell provides a unique platform that challenges the ethos that the customer is always right.

Co-Founder

What do you do?

We save contractors time and money by identifying good customers and avoiding bad situations.

Why do you do it?

We know first hand the struggle to keep a business going after working for the wrong client. The stress of lost money and time. Deciding whether to pay your employees or your own bills!

What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)

Our Catalyst came from a bad customer experience. Our founder has worked in the construction industry for over 15 years and has seen how clients now run your business. Every transaction puts the contractor at a disadvantage from the start. This has created an industry where the customer is right or else! ClienTell bring full transparency by allowing contractors to rate their customers and share those ratings with a network of contractors. This allows every ClienTell user to “know before you go.”

What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?

We are not a blacklist! We want to identify clients that are both good and bad.

What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?

The biggest challenge to date is convincing people that the customer is NOT always right.

What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?

Ideas are cheap. Execution is everything.
