Co-founder of The Movement Sanctuary
What do you do?
All the things. As a small business owner I wear multiple hats, granted my expertise is in acrobatics, yoga, and instructing. As a small team, we do whatever it takes to see The Movement Sanctuary flourish.
Why do you do it?
For the community. It lights me up to see others shine and connect. I’ve always been the person that thrives on the energy of students learning more about themselves after a conversation or lesson.
What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)
Community! The Movement Sanctuary exists to cultivate creative collaboration. We started by saying YES and had a tribe to back us up.
What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?
Most people probably think that I spend most of my time performing, teaching and playing while, actually a large amount of my time is spent building the business’ reputation online, managing operation, building team morale and growing community support.
What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?
The reason why most people choose not to cultivate community is that it’s hard! It’s difficult to have everyone agree, feel seen, and contribute in a way that fosters growth. At the end of the day, it’s always worth it.
What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?
Prepare yourself for difficult conversations. I have always been a people pleaser, and holding this position has challenged me to step into discomfort on multiple levels. When making decisions, our core values are fundamental to our businesses success.
What does your business offer?
The Movement Sanctuary is a 7,000 sqft Circus Arts facility and event venue that offers over 50 classes a week ranging from Aerial Arts, Acrobatics, Yoga and more, to challenge your mind, body, and soul. Classes are offered for children ages 8 and up and for adults who are willing to tap into their inner child.
