What do you do?
I run an event planning business, host team building activities for corporate groups, own the St. Pete Side Lot and love promoting downtown St. Pete!
Why do you do it?
I think I would get bored in life if I made it easy.
What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)
I was fresh out of the Air Force and was looking to start part two of my life. I put a finger on a map and it landed on Tampa, Florida. For some reason I drove right past Tampa. Once I drove over the Howard Franklin Bridge and stumbled into St. Pete, I knew I found my new home. I quickly started working at a large prop house that did scenic design and event planning, moved my way up and after five years, started my own company, Cheers Events, with my wife.
What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?
I am not a party planner, I am a business owner.
What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?
Finding good employees and keeping them once I find them.
What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?
It’s not about the mistake, we all mess up. It’s how you handle the mistake to make it right. That’s what matters.
