Hustle (job)
Owner/operator
What do you do?
We serve breakfast and lunch, New York style! We are not just another courthouse cafe (because that is where we are located). We make egg sandwiches, omelets, fresh salads, hot pressed sandwiches, quich, and much more.
Why do you do it?
I feel that there is a lack of customer service and attention to detail in the restaurant industry. I feel if I can make people smile by filling their bellies with yummy food, I have done my job.
What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)
I grew up in my parents’ bagel store in Long Island. Worked for my family for 10 years and then opened my own family bagel store. After working seven days a week, 365 days a year for 25 years … I wanted a different lifestyle. Came to St Pete and this cafe was calling my name. No weekends, no holidays … no brainer.
What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?
My job continues well after we close for the day. Restocking, food prep, clean up, paperwork, social media … just to name a few.
What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?
Bringing in new customers.
What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?
Work smart and love what you do!
