Created by the Sunshine Street Team to celebrate its fourth season, “It takes a…Volunteer Village” is back for a second year to help more than 60 non-profit groups and events recruit the volunteers they need to keep going.
The event will take place on October 27, 2019 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Historic St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, 559 Mirror Lake Dr. N, St. Petersburg, FL. Attendance is free and open to civic-minded folks interested in learning more about volunteering for anything from special events to board service.
“Volunteering has always been a win/win scenario for me personally. I start out thinking I’m helping others and it truly ends up being that I am more fully blessed because of the experience” comments Shelli Hemans, manager of the St. Petersburg Visitor’s Center when asked about the importance of this event to the community.
The event will feature Floribbean, a new concept from the Urban Restaurant Group, Professor Pops handcrafted ice pops, music, trivia and free shuffleboard play along with a drawing for a $100 door prize.
The Rev. Canon Katie Churchwell, president of the Downtown Business Association added “The gift of time and service is something we all can give. The Downtown Business Association is proud to sponsor the Sunshine Street Team and the Volunteer Village event, as it is the amazing people who live here, the businesses they support, and the businesses they run that make St. Pete so special.”
The Sunshine Street team is a dynamic program of the Downtown Business Association to enrich the St. Petersburg experience by connecting visitors with knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers.
