Opening Sunday at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas in Largo, the International Miniature Art Exhibition features more than 600 works by 134 artists. Some works are barely two inches wide.

The juried show will run through Feb. 9.

It’s the 50th such exhibition from the Miniature Art Society of Florida (MASF). Miniature art – paintings, sculpture, printmaking and more – is renowned for its detail and precision, with works rarely exceeding a few inches in size.

“The extraordinary attention to detail in each work is truly remarkable, inviting viewers into fully realized worlds rendered on a miniature scale,” Creative Pinellas Senior Director of Arts and Cultural Programming Beth Gelman noted in a prepared statement.

Microphotography at MOSI

At Tampa’s Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI), Saturday brings the debut of the Nikon Small World exhibit, spotlighting the art of microphotography. It’s a showcase of award-winning photos of creatures and objects that are tiny or microscopic, from human brain cells to octopus eggs, blown up to larger-than-life size.

The exhibit, on view through March 8, is free with paid MOSI admission.
