JPMorgan Chase Taps Toby Rau to Lead its Growing Middle Market Banking Team in Tampa
Veteran banker relocates from Cincinnati where he led the Western Ohio market

Tampa, Fla., August 21, 2019 – JPMorgan Chase has promoted Toby Rau to lead its Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries business in the Tampa Bay region to serve local businesses.

He will lead a growing team of professionals in Tampa who serve local mid-sized businesses and large companies. Mike Butler, who previously led both the Tampa and Jacksonville teams, will continue to lead its Middle Market Banking business in Jacksonville as the firm aggressively grows in both regions.

A 27-year banking veteran, Rau is relocating with this family to the Tampa Bay area after leading Chase’s Middle Market Banking business in Western Ohio for the last four years. Prior to joining Chase, he spent 17 years at U.S. Bank serving middle market and public companies throughout Cincinnati, Cleveland and Louisville. He began his career with PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, after graduating from Indiana University with a B.S. in Finance. Rau is no stranger to Tampa, having vacationed in the area for years prior to his relocation.

“Tampa Bay is one of the fastest growing regions in the state and we are excited to continue to add top talent to our team here to serve local business owners,” said Diego Gordillo, head of Chase Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries in Florida.

JPMorgan Chase continues to grow its Middle Market Banking team in Tampa by adding three new bankers in the last several months to serve local middle market and public companies.

• Kerri Edwards joined the team earlier this month after spending most of her career at Raymond James working on public equity underwritings and M&A transactions. She was most recently the Director of Finance and Operations at Homee, a Tampa-based property management startup.

• Bobby Salas joined the Middle Market Banking team after spending four years as a Relationship Manager with Chase’s Business Banking team in Tampa where he served local small businesses.

• Chris Nakamura was recently promoted to Vice President on the team after relocating to Tampa from J.P. Morgan’s Corporate and Investment Bank in New York.

JPMorgan Chase is one of Tampa’s largest private employers with more than 5,500 employees working in the Tampa Bay region. It serves nearly 1 million consumers and more than 51,000 small businesses through 60 Chase branches and 225 ATMs. The firm contributed more than $1.2 million to Tampa Bay nonprofits last year.
