Local awards season begins with MUSE Friday
St. Petersburg’s arts community honors its own every year with fundraising galas dressed as awards ceremonies. It’s a welcome excuse to mix, mingle and pay annual homage to the universal muse.
The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, in fact, calls its annual event the MUSE Awards. The 2024 ceremony takes place Friday (Jan. 26). Tickets start at $150 for the 7 p.m. party at Albert Whitted Airport (higher-priced tickets include a 6 p.m. reception and a special musical performance at 6:30).
Performers include singer/actress Colleen Cherry (the program’s emcee) and jazz trumpeter James Suggs and his swing group. There will be live artist demonstrations throughout the evening. Food and drink will be available.
The 2024 MUSE honorees are:
Patron of the Arts Award: Beth Morean.
Art & Technology Award: The Dalí Museum.
Performance Arts Award: La Lucha.
Arts Ambassador Award: Stacia Schrader
Literary Arts Award: Tombolo Books.
Visual Arts Award: The Vitale Brothers.
All MUSE tickets are available at this link.
