A combination of local talent, touring visitors and tribute bands will come together this weekend to benefit Project Free, a local non-profit that directly benefits the health and well-being of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Scheduled for Friday through Sunday at Ferg’s Sports Bar, the Florida Music Expo Arts & Crafts Festival is the brainchild of Florida Music Network president Victor Lima. “My hope,” he said in a prepared statement, “is the Florida Music Expo can grow into a SXSW-styled event on both sides of the bay, where we can highlight all the great talent in our area and show the world there is no greater place to live, work and play than Tampa Bay.”

Along with the near-continuous music, the weekend will include arts and crafts, a vendor village, a dog park and available food and drinks.

Some events are free and some are ticketed. Performers included Southbound 75, Gary Schutt, Solar Flair, Grindstone Syndicate, Jaded, Jam Jones, Chas Collins featuring Curtis Gray (2012 American Idol contestant from Spring Hill), tributes to John Mellencamp, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica and Judas Priest.
