November in the arts: Shatner under glass

William Shatner returns to the bay area Nov. 8, for his first speaking appearance since 2016, when he shared anecdotes and told stories from the Mahaffey Theater stage, then posed for photos backstage for $50 extra per pop.
He’ll appear at 9:30 p.m., following at 7:30 screening of the 1982 film Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan.
Tickets to see and hear the 92-year-old television icon start at $44.50, and top out at $224.50. In addition, for an extra $119 you can have your photo taken, by a professional photographer, in the same room as Captain Kirk. “Please note: a transparent barrier will be in place,” says the Straz website.
In the photographs from a recent appearance – click here – the “barrier” appears to be a two-inch thick sheet of clear plexiglass.
No autographs.
A “Premium VIP Photo-op Add-On” is also available, which includes the above plus an autographed poster, although the cost for this is not posted on the website.
