Nutrition, food insecurity on the table at Monday’s Tiger Bay virtual forum
The Suncoast Tiger Bay Club will hold a virtual discussion, The Face of Hunger: Food Insecurity in Our Community, from noon to 1 p.m. this Monday, March 29.
The participants will be nutritionist and food policy activist Wendy Wesley, Feeding Tampa Bay’s Chief Impact Officer Mandy Cloninger and Julie Rocco, Senior Community Engagement Advocate – Research & Evaluation, Foundation for a Healthy St. Pete.
The discussion will be moderated by Hillary Van Dyke, Professional Development Specialist, Equity for Pinellas County Schools. Topics will include food deserts, the impact of Covid-19 on low-income neighborhoods and the newly food-insecure, and the fact that children are not receiving the nutritious food service they’re used to in school.
The presentation will be broadcast through Zoom Webinar, with the opportunity to submit questions live for a Q&A session with the panelists.
It’s free for Tiger Bay members, and $5 for non-members. The registration deadline is 11:30 a.m. Monday. Registrants will receive an emailed link to the broadcast. Register here.
Organizers encourage donating the $25 price of the regular Tiger Bay lunch meeting; money raised goes to support continuing programming and support for the Young Tigers Scholarship Program.
