Founded in 1931 by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, St. Anthony’s Hospital continues its long tradition of compassion with cutting-edge care focused on the whole person.

For nearly 90 years, St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg has cared for patients with respect and dignity. Over time, St. Anthony’s has remained ahead of the technological curve in a variety of medical fields, including neurology, oncology and orthopedics. With nearly 400 beds, 32 private patient rooms and a multitude of specialty services, St. Anthony’s offers a joint replacement center, the Susan Sheppard McGillicuddy Breast Center and a Brain Attack Team (BRAT) to treat strokes. While St. Anthony outpaces other hospitals with its technology, it also distinguishes itself from other hospitals with its compassion. St. Anthony’s lives up to the words of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, who gave the hospital its mission upon its founding: To “respond to the needs of the people.”
