The National Theatre production of "Treasure Island" is available through Thursday; members of the freeFall Theatre staff will hold an open Zoom discussion about the play Wednesday.

Somewhere, off in the distance, Olivia Newton-John is singing Let’s get virtual, I want to get virtual.

These are strange times.

St. Petersburg’s art community is doing the best it can, under such trying circumstances, to maintain a presence in the thoughts of all citizens. We at the Catalyst are doing our part, too, with the every-weeknight transmission of the interview program The Catalyst Sessions, via Facebook Live.

Of course, we’re all in different places, in different rooms, riding thousands of different trains of thought.

Here are a few of this week’s reach-out-and-virtually-touch efforts:

The James Museum From Home: Curated online content from the James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art – using materials from the collection – will change every Tuesday. This week’s subject is Palettes of Spring, is about cowboys. There are discussions about artwork, movies (with links), story time for kids and more. Click here.

Quarantine Storytime: A Virtual Reading by Yuki Jackson. Jackson teaches writing at Ringling College of Art and Design, and is the founder of The Battleground, a Tampa youth program. According to the sponsoring organization, Wordier Than Thou, her writing is inspired by her Soka Gakkai International Buddhist practice, hip hop lyricism and the art within daily life. At 7 p.m. today, Facebook Live.

Madama Butterfly, Acts II and III. St. Petersburg Opera Company’s video archives are being opened on Mondays and Tuesdays. This is made Public on the group’s YouTube channel for a limited window; afterwards, artistic director Mark Sforzini appears via Facebook Live to talk about the show, answer questions and more. Opera: 6 p.m. today, YouTube. Conversation: 7:30 p.m. today, Facebook Live.

National Theatre Wednesdays: Eric Davis, freeFall Theatre artistic director, and members of his team to discuss the plays streaming each week om the National Theatre’s YouTube page. This week, it’s Treasure Island (available now through Thursday), followed by Twelfth Night. Discussions take place on Zoom with Meeting ID 820-3295-3100. Password: 6099. At 6 p.m. Wednesday. This doesn’t stream to the public, but you can join in for free.

Keep St. Pete Lit Poetry Open Mic. According to Keep St. Pete Lit founder Maureen McDole, this event is turning into something more special than anyone anticipated. It all takes place in thestudio@620 Facebook page … check out that page for continually-updated instructions on how to participate. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Facebook Live.
