Without question, Saturday’s big lollapalooza is the 10th annual Localtopia at Williams Park. The free fresh-air event features more than 300 vendors and community organizations, all of them local, and the attendance estimate is something like 40,000 people.

Here’s the full Catalyst story from Monday to get you headed in the right direction, Localtopia-wise.

And Lealman, the unincorporated district in north St. Petersburg, is celebrating its rich heritage and history with its first-ever party, the Honey & Arts Festival at Raymond H. Neri Park. Here’s our story about the Lealman-palooza.

But wait … there’s more!

Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival, Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Carter G. Woodson African American Museum. Publix is the over-the-title sponsor of this food-fest, “emphasizing education in food consumption, agricultural science, improved lifestyle choices including fitness, and finance.” There will all sorts of food vendors, including those whose focus is on healthy eating, food trucks, beer and wine, arts and merchandise vendors – and because collards are the star attraction, organizers have announced a “Festival Favorite” competition, with meat and non-meat categories and three levels of cash prizes. Festival information, including competition registration, is here.

St. Petersburg Science Festival, Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus (corner of 6th Ave S and 2nd Street), and nearby Poynter Park. A collective of local science organizations puts this annual event together, with hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math-related activities. This includes exhibits, demonstrations, tours, discussions and performances. It’s all about instilling a love of science in kids – read all about it here.

MarineQuest, Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s annual Open House is connected to the Science Festival; it’s at 100 8th Avenue S., and a trolley will run visitors to and from both events from the SouthCore parking garage, 101 1st Avenue S. MarineQuest is a way for kids to learn about, see and even touch marine creatures who live in bay and gulf waters. Details here.

Tampa Bay Rays Fan Fest, Saturday 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Tropicana Field. It’s a family fun event inside the Trop, with games, inflatables, mascots, a stage show, player visits etc. Admission is free, but a “mobile ticket” is required (get them here).
