TiEcon Florida 2019 was a full day of shared wisdom from successful business leaders and startups.

It was the fourth TiEcon for TiE Tampa Bay, a nonprofit organization that encourages entrepreneurship. The group, formed in 2012, has 150 member. The TiE Tampa Bay Angel Fund has invested $2.7 million in startups.

About 300 people at the USF Alumni Center on Saturday heard two former CEOs who built their companies from the ground up talk about their successes and failures. A leading investor offered five steps to a successful capital raise, while the fintech leader named one of the most influential women in payments talked about how she built her company. A panel of startup leaders debated the value of diversity, with eight other young firms pitched their business cases in a pitch competition.
