From all indications, restaurant and brewery Sesh St. Pete has gone out of business.

The establishment’s Facebook and Instagram pages have been removed, along with its website. And Sesh’s phone number was disconnected Monday.

Sesh St. Pete is also listed as permanently closed on Google.

The Catalyst reached out, unsuccessfully, to co-owner Matthew Powers.

Located at 2221 4th Street N., Sesh opened in April 2023 after two years of renovations to the existing building. Powers, who also founded the Mad Beach Craft Brewing Company in Madeira Beach, purchased the 7,600-square-foot property in 2021 for $1.425 million.

He co-owned the restaurant with his Mad Beach managing partner Tyson Williams, who also did not respond to a request for comment.

The property was once home to fondue chain The Melting Pot, which closed at the 4th Street location in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic (a new location, on Central Avenue, opened in April).

Between 1959 and 1985, the site was the home of a French eatery called Rollande et Pierre.

It was built in the late 1930s by woodcarver Earl Gresh, who operated a workshop and tourist attraction, the Earl Gresh Wood Parade, between 1940 and 1958.

This is a developing story. Check back here for updates.

Sad yet another restaurant couldn’t make it this year. Another one bites the dust!
Is this post Hurricane year of recovery or is tourism that bad?

I heard this past summer the restaurant business looked extremely grim. And yet we didn’t get much bad weather at all.

Is this a sign of the times or just a year post hurricane recovery?

It’s a shame. Had some great beers and I enjoyed taking out-of-country friends there to tried the gator bites.

    1) Sad to see a local business fail.

    2) Let’s start at the beginning: The name was horrible. And the decor/theme? Bizarre.
